“Olatuja possesses a special instrument: a full-bodied tone, precise pitch and personal engagement at the lowest whisper or highest wail.” —DownBeat. Praised by The New York Times as “a singer with a strong and luscious tone and an amiably regal presence on stage,” vocalist Alicia Olatuja grew up in St. Louis, Missouri immersed in gospel, soul, jazz, and classical music. She has worked with Christian McBride, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Chaka Khan, and others. At Wesleyan, she will be joined by guitarist David Rosenthal, pianist Jon Cowherd, bassist Ben Williams, and drummer Ulysses Owens Jr.
