Jazz Samaritan Alliance is a collective of composer/performers who have united to create and present original, socially conscious jazz. On this evening, charter members Kris Allen (alto saxophone), Noah Baerman (piano), and Chris Dingman (vibraphone) will be joined by Nadje Noordhuis (trumpet), Ike Sturm (bass), and Anwar Marshall (drums) for a program of new material, composed for the occasion, that addresses the topic of domestic violence. Latanya Farrell will join us as a guest vocalist on two brand new songs that Noah Baerman composed with lyrics by Molly Randall.  All proceeds will benefit Interval House.

“Collectively we chose Interval House as the beneficiary of the funds raised from the concert in Hartford in part because we were inspired by the work they are doing to make systemic change in the patterns of domestic violence as well as supporting victims of that realm of abuse, and in part because we were determined to take on the daunting challenge of composing music around this topic, and the band members have since come up with music that covers the wide spectrum of hope, pain, courage, and contemplation that the topic demands.” – Noah Baerman
