If there is a silver-lining to these pandemic years (2020-2021) it may be our ability to adapt to new realities in ways we hadn’t imagined. One of those has been in finding new ways to present performance art. When it comes to live jazz, Internet streaming has become the “new norm”. It took hold in Hartford’s PBMNJ, Greater Hartford Festival of Jazz, Dezron & Brandee’s coffee series, Baby Grand Jazz and many others.
This live-streaming phenomenon has continued today even though most venues have now opened their doors to live audiences. Many jazz musicians that learned their craft in Hartford have made an impact in NYC by doing their own live streaming or being guests on some of New York’s notable streaming series. Recently, some “young lions” of Hartford were guests on the weekly stream from jazz pianist Miki Yamanaka’s weekly feed, Miki’s Mood. In this episode she features Josh Evans, Alex Tremblay and Jimmy McBride; all with Hartford roots and well known to jazz fans here. Enjoy their show below, streaming from NYC.
