Coming this Spring, jazz returns to The Packing House in Willington Connecticut. If you haven’t experienced this unique performance space east of Hartford, this would be a great time to do so. A short drive on I-84 East through the rolling hills of eastern Connecticut will take you to this rural historic mill which once housed a tool and die factory set on a scenic lake. Get there early and wander around back to the waterfall that once powered the factory’s machines.
The building has been transformed into a community of quaint artist studios and offices called The Mill Works. Housed within is this wonderful performance space, The Packing House. Proprietor Tom Buccino has founded a non-profit organization Eastern Connecticut Center for History Art and Performance (EC-CHAP). Through this organization, Tom has brought music of all genres as well as film, dance, comedy and theater to the region.
In the spring of 2019, jazz returns to the Packing House. These are the performance scheduled in March and April.
Saturday, March 23 – Greg Abate Quartet
Friday, March 29 – An Evening with Nicole Zuraitis
Saturday, April 6 – Sara Hanahan Quintet – Part 3
Saturday, May 4 – June Bisantz & Alex Nakhimovsky – Love’s Tango
Ticket prices vary per concert, so check out the website for more information on these artists, show times and tickets. For Hartford Jazz Society members there is a 10% discount for tickets purchased at the door. Just let them know you are a member. This is a BYOB&F (bring your own bottle & food) venue, so feel free to pack a bottle of wine and snacks to enjoy with the live music.
