As we turn our calendar to the New Year, it’s always a fun to look back at some of the best jazz releases from the previous year. As the current webmaster to the Hartford Jazz Society and now a resident of San Diego California, I have a hand in each of these cities jazz scenes. As such, I have reviewed what I feel are the most notable releases from Hartford and San Diego jazz artists, as well as other great albums released in 2022.
Hartford jazz releases are from Dezron Douglas (Atalaya), Matt Dwonszyk (A Year and a Day) and Steve Davis (Bluesthetic). I posted other great recent Hartford releases on a previous post.
From San Diego the featured releases are from Matt Hall (I Hope To My Never), Peter Sprague (Peter Sprague plays Pat Metheny), Gilbert Castellanos (Espérame En El Cielo).
