We will be welcoming the wonderful saxophonist, clarinetist, and composer Mike McGinnis to perform with bassist Henry Lugo and pianist/host/curator Noah Baerman. Mike is a lyrical and highly eclectic musician whose performance credits range from avant-garde royalty to straight-ahead jazz to indie pop, with a healthy dose of interdisciplinary work with dance, film, and other mediums. His new album Outing: Road Trip II is a brilliant work of art, while this performance will focus particularly on the material from his two trio albums (Recurring Dream and Singular Awakening) with Steve Swallow and Art Lande. He is also a warm and articulate person, which is of course essential to the performance-plus-conversation format of Jazz Up Close.

We are grateful, thanks to the generous support of the Middletown Commission on the Arts and Resonant Motion’s donors, to be able to offer Jazz Up Close once again this year (if you’re so inclined you can mark September 14 on your calendar for the year’s second of two events). As such, and as always, it is free and open to the public, though reservations are requested and recommended – you can reserve your seat(s) by clicking here.

HJS is not responsible for changes or errors, so verify event with venue before attending.
